There are desert Acacias in Claremont – but no browsing giraffes. As you come into Claremont over the bridge from Lansdowne, or down the main road from Wynberg, on the left is a little triangular island planted with Acacia thorn. This little thicket is one of the happy oases for Outsiders, an informal group of artists who meet there on Saturday mornings to paint and do drama.
